In ARTS this term we have been learning to: Drama
Here is a link to our online modelling book.

  • During this unit of learning we:
  • Described the characteristics of silent performances.
  • Identified different techniques used in silent performances.
  • Used these techniques in a variety of different practice situations.
  • Worked in a small group to put together our own silent performance.

The most challenging part of this unit of learning was the Acting because at start we had to think then practise and practise and practise our throwing and catching.

The two things that I enjoyed the most were:

The story that my group told silently was at home when Solani & Warisha got Jealous of me having a soft toy and tried to steal it.

Overall I think my group worked really well and I think our act is perfect.

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

  • Year 7/8: I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

Describe Map OneLink to web

Describe map TwoLink to web

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

First I had to glue the paper together to make a book.
Secondly I had to think of a moment in order of date.
Thirdly I had to draw the pictures.
And that was it!

Evaluate texts reading group

Evaluate Texts Blog Post

Title: Reading - Evaluate Texts

In reading we have been learning to….apply some criteria to evaluate texts eg accuracy of information and presence of bias.

We have been evaluating texts against the following four criteria:
  1. Readability
  2. Accuracy
  3. Relevance
  4. Quality of language/ information.

These documents show evidence of my learning during this unit:
(link your own learning for each of these activities. Please make sure your sharing settings are open)

My Next Step: Is to continue to apply this new knowledge and evaluate texts as I read them, checking for readability, accuracy, relevance and quality of language/ information

Merit Leadership blog post #1 (Home learning challenges) A9

Today Tuesday the 30th of May 2017 I did a home learning challenge.
I did A9, draw a landscape of the local Oakland's area. I think I did pretty well first I did a draft with pencil and made lots of mistakes but I carried on and ended up like this. The easiest part was the feild but the challanging part was remembering the place!

Blog post for merit #1 (Peer mediation)

Today for peer mediation me, Izzy and Auston had to deal with a really bad problem I had to scream to get the little kids attention the problem started off when I heard the year 1 students scream in the old music room, when we went in 2 boys were fighting and everyone else were screaming some other boys were yelling "fight fight fight" but finally at the end I shouted "GET OUT" I felt really bad because I never scream to others kids I like staying Quiet and calm all of the good kids went out but some of the naughty kids stayed in they were still fighting until Izzy came over (she is a tom boy :|  ) after Izzy finished talking to the boys all of them went out but a boy with orange hair stayed in but it was time to swap over and Izzy and Auston when to class but I stayed. Luckily the teacher came and the little boy went out. So I could Enjoy the rest of my lunch, I think I showed Respect and Active thinking because I heard every ones story (which was boring)

Novel blog post.

Blog Title: Term 1 Novel Study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel Fire in the sky.

I found this novel interesting because at the start it was a bit boring about him talking and eating and stuff but but at the middle it was getting interesting because his father went missing and I was dying to want to know what happened next!

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

National Standard this covers

  • Year 7/8  Standard
    • using several pieces of information to make inferences
using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
    • I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.

Games with minimal or no equipment.

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Screen Shot 2017-03-12 at 12.32.06 PM.png

The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.
(Fill this table in, in as much detail as possible. )

Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
Toilet tag.
chain tag.
tennis balls.
It will save time from getting things.

My Strengths.
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are listen to the rules and play the game because i won't disagree to the games and sit out i will just play it even when i don't like it.

My Next Steps.
Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are listen to the rules and do whats right  Because sometimes i forget the rules and basically break the rules E.G (when we catch the ball we can't run and i didn't hear it so i ran so basically i break the rules)

Writing - Leadership Article

In writing I have been learning use more punctuation and using paragraph consistently

I have been especially focusing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

(E.G Leadership is a skill of being motivate people it means teams to work towards a goal.

There are 6 traits of an effective leader: Integrity ,Trustworthy ,Resilient Goal focused  Active thinker and Motivational. My key leadership role for 2017 is being a peer mediator this means each Monday on  lunch time, I will be wearing a green vest that says peer mediator plus a an ipad and a peer mediator process to guide us through problems, to be a good peer mediator I need to show all the 6 traits.)
